    As               chronic               disease               and               illness               reach               epidemic               levels               across               the               globe,               the               link               between               diet,               nutrition               and               lifestyle               choices               (tobacco               use,               lack               of               exercise,               stress,               etc.)               and               chronic               illness               has               been               well               established.

    However,               the               awareness               of               the               risks               does               not               result               in               change               for               most               people               who               experience               chronic               illness,               obesity,               depression,               anxiety,               or               any               number               of               physical               or               mental               issues               that               are               linked               to               poor               health               behaviors.

    In               a               system               where               physicians               recommend               changes               to               diet,               or               prescribe               exercise               but               have               no               time               to               spend               with               each               patient,               advising,               supporting               and               challenging               them               toward               that               change               most               patients               leave               their               physician's               office               with               a               prescription               and               no               clear               idea               of               how               to               better               their               own               physical               health.
                   So               what               is               a               person               to               do               who               truly               desires               to               change               their               health               and               wants               to               reach               a               new               level               of               wellness               both               physically               and               mentally?
                   Find               a               health               and               wellness               coach.

    A               health               and               wellness               coach               will               come               alongside               a               person               who               desires               health               and               wellness               in               their               lives               and               will               work               with               the               client               to               design               and               personalize               a               health               program               that               includes               all               the               aspects               of               wellness,               not               just               weight               loss.

    Wellness               includes               a               balance               in               healthy               eating,               exercise,               feelings               of               self-worth               and               a               belief               that               change               is               possible.

    The               process               toward               wellness               includes               identifying               the               reasons               a               client               does               not               make               healthy               choices               and               working               to               eliminate               those               obstacles               while               creating               new               habits               and               opportunities               that               moves               the               client               toward               the               ideal               life               they               desire.
                   Studies               indicate               that               when               a               person               is               involved               with               the               process               toward               health               and               wellness               they               are               likely               to               achieve               and               maintain               their               health               and               wellness               goals.

    A               health               and               wellness               coach               will               listen               to               your               goals               and               desires               and               work               with               you               to               achieve               them.

    Although               a               health               and               wellness               coach               will               offer               you               information               about               the               many               different               ways               to               a               healthy               life,               you               will               choose               your               own               path               and               your               health               and               wellness               coach               will               walk               that               path               with               you.
                   When               looking               for               a               health               and               wellness               coach               it               is               important               find               the               right               fit.

    The               field               of               coaching               is               not               regulated               and               anyone               can               create               a               website               and               call               themselves               a               coach.

    When               interviewing               a               health               and               wellness               coach               ask               plenty               of               questions               about               their               experience,               education,               certifications               and               references.

    A               competent               health               and               wellness               coach               should               have               no               problem               answering               all               of               your               questions               and               helping               you               to               find               the               best               coach               for               you,               even               if               that               means               referring               you               to               another               coach.
